Data & Account Deletion
App: Hoichoi Durga Puja 2026
Provider: Hoichoi Netherlands (Bengali Community of The Netherlands)
Contact: info@hoichoi.nl
Last updated: 2 June 2026
The app does not require visitors to create an account. You can use it without
signing up. This page explains the small amount of data the app does involve and how to have it
removed.
1. Request deletion by email
To request deletion of any data associated with you, email
info@hoichoi.nl with the subject line Data deletion request.
Please tell us which applies to you (a festival visitor, or an organizer with an admin login).
We will action your request and confirm by reply within 30 days.
2. What data exists, and how it is deleted
- Notification subscription — if you tapped “🔔 Notify me”, a notification
ID is held by our notification provider (OneSignal) so we can send festival alerts. It is not
linked to your name. Delete it yourself anytime by opening the app and tapping
“Turn off” on the notification card, or by turning off notifications for the app in
your browser/phone settings. You may also email us to have it removed.
- Data stored only on your device — any PDF ticket you uploaded to the Ticket
Wallet, your chosen language, and which announcements you’ve seen are stored
only on your own device and are never sent to us. Remove them by clearing the
app’s data or uninstalling the app.
- Anonymous usage statistics — the app counts aggregate activity (e.g. how many
times a page is opened) with no cookies and no personal profile. These figures
are not linked to any individual and therefore cannot be tied back to you for deletion.
- Festival assistant (chatbot) questions — the optional “Ask Hoichoi” assistant
sends the question text you type (and recent messages in the same chat, for context) to our AI
provider (Anthropic) to generate a reply. We do not store these conversations or link them to
you, and we send no name, email, or device identifier with them. Anthropic handles them under its own
privacy policy. Simply don’t use the
assistant if you prefer not to send any question text.
- “Pujo Tales” submissions — if you shared a memory (name, city, text and/or
photo) on the community wall, email us with a note of what you submitted and we will
remove it (text and photo). You may also withdraw your consent at any time;
removal stops it being shown publicly.
- Organizer admin accounts — if you are an event volunteer who was given an
admin login (email + PIN), email us and we will delete your admin account, PIN, and any
associated record.
3. What we keep
After a deletion request we remove the data described above. We do not retain personal data
beyond what is needed to operate the festival app, and we keep only anonymous, aggregate counts
that cannot identify you.
